SafeNet Browser Protection (“the extension”) is a security and parental-control browser extension developed by SafeNet Technology. This Privacy Policy explains what information the extension accesses, how it is used, and how we protect your privacy.

By using the SafeNet Browser Protection extension, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

SafeNet Browser Protection does not collect, store, transmit, share, or sell any of the following information:

• Personally identifiable information (PII)
• Usernames, passwords, or authentication details
• Financial or payment information
• Personal communications (emails, messages, chats, etc.)
• Health or medical information
• Exact browsing history or historical list of visited pages
• Detailed user activity such as keystrokes, mouse clicks, or scrolls
• Page content including text, images, audio, or video

We do not build profiles on individual users, and we strictly comply with the Chrome Web Store User Data Privacy Policy.

2. Information the Extension Accesses

The extension performs real-time checks on websites you visit in order to decide whether a page should be allowed or blocked according to your SafeNet filtering configuration.

2.1 Active Tab URL

The extension can read the active tab URL only for the following purposes:

• To evaluate the website against SafeNet’s filtering rules and categories.
• To display the SafeNet block page when a restricted website is accessed.

This URL information is used in real time and is not stored as complete browsing history by the extension.

2.2 Local Configuration Data

The extension uses the browser’s local storage only to keep SafeNet configuration such as:

• SafeNet device identifier or pairing token
• Filtering and category configuration flags
• Block-page display settings and UI preferences
• Temporary status data needed for the current session

This data remains on the user’s device and is not used to track users across sites or sold to third parties.

2.3 Communication with SafeNet Desktop and Backend

The extension may communicate with:

• The local SafeNet Desktop application (for example via http://127.0.0.1) to synchronize device pairing and filtering status.
• SafeNet’s secure backend APIs (for example https://admin.safenettechnology.com or https://api.safenettechnology.com) to retrieve updated rules or submit access-request events for parental review.

These communications use a SafeNet-generated device identifier and do not include personal profile information.

3. What We Collect (Minimal & Non-Personal)

To provide accurate filtering and access-request features, the extension may send the following non-personal data to SafeNet services:

• Domain name or URL category of the blocked website
• Filter category or reason (e.g., “Adult content”, “Social media”)
• SafeNet device or profile identifier
• Timestamp of the block event
• Details of a user-initiated access request (for example, domain and category) so a parent or administrator can approve or deny access.

This information is used only to enforce filtering rules and maintain parental-control logs. It is never sold or shared with advertisers or unrelated third parties.

4. How We Use This Information

Any data accessed or transmitted by SafeNet Browser Protection is used only for:

• Evaluating whether a website should be allowed or blocked
• Displaying SafeNet’s custom block page with clear explanations
• Handling access-request workflows so parents or administrators can approve specific websites
• Synchronizing filter rules and device status with the SafeNet Desktop application and SafeNet backend

SafeNet does not use this information for advertising, analytics, profiling, or resale.

5. Data Sharing

SafeNet Browser Protection does not:

• Sell user data to any third party
• Share data with advertisers or data brokers
• Transfer data for purposes unrelated to web filtering or parental control
• Use data to determine creditworthiness or for lending decisions

Data may be shared only between the extension, the SafeNet Desktop application, and SafeNet’s own infrastructure as necessary to provide the service.

6. Single-Purpose Use

In line with Chrome Web Store policies, the SafeNet Browser Protection extension has a single purpose:

To enforce SafeNet web-filtering rules and display a custom block page when a restricted website is accessed.

The extension does not use or transfer data for any secondary or unrelated purpose.

7. Third-Party Services & Remote Code

The extension does not execute or load third-party remote JavaScript code. It only communicates with SafeNet-owned services over encrypted HTTPS connections.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data, including:

• HTTPS for all communication with SafeNet backend services
• Local-only configuration storage
• No tracking scripts or analytics beacons
• No fingerprinting technologies

9. User and Administrator Controls

Parents or administrators can:

• Configure filtering rules and allowed/blocked categories
• Approve or deny specific website access requests
• Manage devices paired with their SafeNet account
• Disable or uninstall the extension (in some environments, a managed policy may enforce installation by an administrator)

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect product changes, security updates, or legal requirements. When we make significant changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the extension after changes means you accept the updated Policy.
